Dave and Helen Lyth 

David, a Urologist and experienced obstetric fistula surgeon and Helen, his teacher wife, are Friends of Kagando volunteers who have been in Kagando since August 2009.  They are largely self-supporting. They were brought up and met in East Africa.  Their blog is illustrated and wide ranging with information and insights including spiritual health and faith inside and outside the Kagando community.  It begins during an earlier assignment in Sierra Leone

Rachel Pagnamenta

Rachel is a GP trainee from Bath in the UK who has taken a year out of her training to attend the Tropical Diseases course in Liverpool and then put her knowledge into practice in Africa.  Her medical student elective was in Uganda (Kisiizi) and she had visited Kagando.  Apart from some help with accommodation while in Uganda her time has been almost entirely self-funded.  Friends of Kagando were happy to claim her as a volunteer!

Simon and Ann Eyre

Simon, a GP in Eastbourne UK and Ann,  his wife divide their time between England and Uganda as a kind of 'wind-down' retirement!  Simon worked in Kenya, at Kijabe Hospital in the Rift Valley for several years.  He is reviving his African medicine methods and works mainly in Adult Medicine and Paediatrics.  Ann teaches in the primary school, including acting out scenes from the bible.

Jeffrey and Angela van Gangelen

Jeffrey and Angela completed five months in Kagando in October 2010.  Volunteers from Australia, Jeffrey is a surgery trainee and Angela a physiotherapist. Jeffrey's blog is highly readable, informative, detailed, insightful, entertaining, reflective and full of biblical, philosophical and cultural insights.  Written as events happened, it provides a sympathetic outsider's view of Uganda and Kagando while in the midst of a challenging life experience.

Three new doctors recruited in Kampala.  I am appointed i/c Medical Ward and get malaria! (no link). One long-term medical student from Germany and one new GMMT doctor due to start soon.  Babies born to members of staff.  Much cause for rejoicing and thanksgiving, including for introduction to CEILIDHs!

Sadly, this will be Sigrid's last letter as a doctor in Kagando, (unless she goes back on a new contract - it has happened before!).  She returned to Germany after three years of immensely valuable and loyal service. Lots of news of new and old staff.
